Why Practice MTC with Times Table Kids?
Our MTC Practice tool is fun, encouraging, and 100% free — designed with children, parents, and teachers in mind. Learners get positive messages, earn stars and certificates, and receive tailored practice suggestions based on their results. They can even send results to a teacher or parent by email. We use limited tracking (via Google and Facebook) to help improve the experience, but we don’t collect personal quiz answers or names. Everything stays secure, and your child’s results remain on your device unless you share them.
Just a few minutes of practice daily or weekly can build confidence and boost fluency — one question at a time!
About the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC)
The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) is a statutory assessment introduced by the UK government to ensure that pupils in Year 4 (ages 8–9) have a solid grasp of multiplication facts up to 12 × 12. It aims to improve mathematical fluency and confidence, helping children tackle more advanced topics like division, fractions, and algebra.
The MTC is a short, computer-based test consisting of 25 questions, with six seconds to answer each one. It’s not about pressure — it’s about building a strong foundation for future learning. Quick recall of multiplication facts supports better problem-solving and overall numeracy.
