How to Read a Multiplication Chart
Find the first number in the left-hand column and the second number along the top row. Follow that row and that column until they meet — the number in the cell is the answer. For example, to find 7 × 8, go down to row 7 and across to column 8: the two meet at 56.
Because multiplication is commutative (3 × 4 is the same as 4 × 3), every fact appears twice in the grid. That means there are far fewer unique facts to learn than the 144 cells suggest.
Which Multiplication Chart Should You Download?
The colour chart shades each row differently, which helps visual learners keep their place and spot patterns — it is the best one to start with. The black-and-white chart is ink-friendly and the right choice for printing a set for a whole class. The blank chart is for self-testing: children fill it in from memory, then check it against the completed chart.

The MTC tests the times tables from 1 to 12, so use the 1–12 charts at the top of this page. The older 1–10 charts do not include the 11 and 12 times tables and are not enough on their own for MTC preparation.
